- Client: Mobarakeh Steel
- Project Status: Completed
The construction project for the second primary crusher line, with a capacity of 700 tons per hour and an annual production of over four million tons of crushed limestone, was awarded to TAM Company through an EPC contract tender. Initiated in mid-2020, the project has now been operationalized.
The work initially required foreign technology, with almost no domestic alternative available, and faced potential major challenges in its completion. However, experts from TAM Iran Khodro, leveraging their previous knowledge from mining projects, their experienced engineers, and accepting risks that could potentially impact their decades-long reputation in industrial projects, took on the challenge. Despite economic constraints and the COVID-19 pandemic, the project boldly moved forward.
The risk, which could have caused years of delay or jeopardized the procurement of new parts, was mitigated by the knowledge and confidence of Iranian engineers.
Among other execution challenges were the difficulty in sourcing local workforce due to the site’s remote location, rampant inflation during the project, unprecedented cold and rainfall in the final six months, and the pandemic affecting both on-site and central office staff throughout the project.
Upon completion and delivery to Mobarakeh Steel, the plant’s primary crushing capacity doubled to 1,400 tons per hour, establishing it as the largest limestone crushing unit in the country.
